Medication for aquarium fish to treat external mycoses (fungal infections) caused by fungi of the Saprolegniaceae family. Whitish, cotton ball-like films which may appear on all of the external body parts are a sign of this kind of infection. Visible fungal infestation is very often a secondary infection, which may, for example, result from a skin injury. Just as often, though, a bacterial infection which destroys the mucous membrane and the upper skin layers of the fish is found to be the primary cause.

Contraindications: None known
Caution: Invertebrates in fresh water (shrimp, crabs, snails. etc.) may exhibit intolerances. As a matter of precaution, they should be excluded from the treatment. Fish without scales (loaches and catfish) and weakened fish may be sensitive to the medication.
Adverse reactions: None known. In case you observe adverse reactions in your fish, please inform us and your veterinarian or pharmacist. For ornamental fish in an aquarium
Use: Prior to use, any activated carbon present in the filter must be removed and UV-C appliances and CO2 fertilisation must be switched off. 50 % of the water should be changed prior to application. The aquarium should be aerated with a diaphragm pump with an air stone during the treatment.
Medications should generally be added in the morning and the animals observed.

Dosage and duration of use:
Component 1: 10 ml per 80 l of water on the 1st day. Add another full dose each on the 3rd day and 5th day if necessary.
Component 2: 10 ml per 80 l of water on the 7th day. Add another full dose on the 9th day and 11th day if necessary.
A 30 – 50 % water change should be done immediately prior to each follow-up dose.
Start with half a dose and increase cautiously. Only use half a dose (10 ml per 160 l of water) of Component 2 of JBL Fungol Plus 250 for fish from the East African rift lakes (Lake Malawi, Lake Tanganyika, Lake Victoria).
Feeding during the treatment: The amount of food the fish get should be reduced during the treatment.
Filtering during the treatment: Biologically strong active filters that have not been cleaned for an extended period of time may inactivate the remedy. Therefore, we recommend cleaning the filter thoroughly, perhaps even replacing the filter media prior to use, since many bacteria can survive outside of the fish for an extended period of time.
What to do in case of an overdose, interruption or discontinuation: If an overdose is discovered, half of the water must be changed. If a dose is forgotten, it should be added as soon as possible and the treatment should be continued according to the instructions.
After use: Filter with active carbon for 24 hours after treatment in order to remove any residual traces of the medication. The activated carbon must be disposed of properly afterwards. Adding bacteria starters to the tank water helps replace damaged cleansing bacteria.
Please check the ammonium/ammonia and nitrite levels daily during
treatment and the first days after the treatment is finished. If the nitrite
levels are over 0.5 mg/l, a 50 % water change should be performed
immediately and a bacteria starter added to the tank water.
